The Cuckoo’s Calling, by Robert Galbraith

One reason that this book hit the best seller list is the fact that Robert Galbraith is one of the pen names of J.K. Rowling of Harry Potter fame. However it is an excellent mystery and I would be eager to read another by “Robert Galbraith.” Rowling has created likeable, sympathetic main characters in the wounded Afghanistan war veteran Cormoran Strike and his assistant Robin. The plot revolves around the death of celebrity model Lula Landry which has been ruled a suicide. But her adopted brother, John Bristow, is convinced that she was murdered and hires Strike to investigate her death. With a cast of well-developed characters and a look into today’s celebrity-obsessed popular culture, I would recommend giving this book a try.
